Abstract
Nowadays computer tomography (CT) technology is developed rapidly. Due to the recent technical development improving resolution and scan velocity, CT can obtain detailed images of the anatomy. Currently, endoscopy is generally used as a tool for clinical diagnosis in the hospital. If we diagnose through quantitative measurement and virtual endoscopy using CT scan images, we can solve the cost problem and pains for patients. Center-line data can be used as an atlas of qualitative analysis and path of virtual exploration. In this reason, we have developed an automated three-dimensional center-line extraction technique using airways in MDCT. Center-line dataset consists of same pattern with voxels which have maximum distance from the boundary. We can obtain a center-line of airway trees with calculating from distance from the boundary and source using euclidean distance. In addition, we made a data structure for analyzing node, branch, and generation of airways. In this paper, we can get detailed information for analyzing the airway structure.
